About WMSHA: WMSHA is a Grand Rapids-based amateur level ice hockey program for children and young adults with developmental disabilities. The program is open to any player over the age of five, male or female, who is physically able to play, but would be unable to participate in any other organized program due to his or her special needs.

WMSHA does not ask their families to pay a dime to play hockey, which means everything from jerseys to safety equipment to ice time needs to be funded through donations, contests, and fund raisers. It takes $1,000 to fully fund one special needs kid to play hockey for an entire season.
